A Companion Checklist to the ACT™
Studies have shown that knowledge and avoidance of asthma triggers can greatly improve patients’ abilities to control their asthma. Identifying which triggers specific to an individual cause asthma attacks and avoiding or limiting exposure to such triggers is an important aspect of effectively managing allergen-induced asthma. The Asthma Control Test™ with Allergic Triggers was developed with this in mind to serve as a list of potential environmental allergic and non-allergic triggers that aligns with the objectives of the ACT™.
The ACT™-AT follows the same guidelines as the ACT™. Administering the Allergic Triggers Checklist alongside the ACT™ can provide additional information that may help patients, providers and healthcare organizations better monitor, understand and improve patients’ control of asthma symptoms. With repeated use, the ACT™-AT can help monitor changes in both avoidance of asthma triggers and overall asthma control over time and to aid in determining the effects of asthma treatment.
